Why the iPad is superior to the Kindle Keyboard 3G

One seldom uses the words 'iPad' and 'Kindle' in the same sentence because it can be tough to compare the two side-by-side. The reasons that people use these new pieces of technology are quite different from each other, so it comes down to which device best suits their needs better.

If you like to stroll from coffee shop to coffee shop, perusing the streets of downtown and google-ing everything in sight and watching every music video of every song you hear out of cars that are bass bumping down the road, then the iPad is right up your alley. With double the battery life, and double the screen resolution of the Kindle Keyboard 3G, the choice is quite clear.

The Apple followers amongst us also aren't people who like to be given one option either. Apple-ites like to choose colour, memory size, lock screen background, which apps show up where, etc. That's exactly why Apple is in the lead when it comes to tablets, no matter the purpose of the device, because everyone's is just that little bit different that their friends'. There is no way to customize a Kindle Keyboard 3G, it's a cookie-cutter electronic device, which is simply not feature-packed with exciting things. While both of these hand-helds are full of entertainment, whether it be text, music, videos, or TV shows, the Apple iPad will have you watching with ease, but gaining mighty biceps while doing so. Weighing in at over a pound, the Apple is just too exciting for its flimsy-armed counterparts.

But for all of the hippies out there who just like to read a book in the most peaceful of places, such as under a bridge or at the top of a mountain and who don't like to waste paper, maybe the Kindle would be your mate. Just be sure to not be too far from an outlet if you would like to read more than a few chapters.

The Kindle users might not be as willing to hold a heavier device like the iPad for a lengthy period, but they do know a good e-book reader when they see one! With a Kindle being so easy to hold at a good reading level, there is no such thing as 'tablet-neck' with these folks, plus, the Kindle Keyboard 3G can easily fit into a jacket or purse pocket. Sometimes the frugal population are the ones left with more money in the bank. That's the case in this comparison anyways, since the Kindle is less than a quarter of the price of its iPad cousin. With all that being said, its hard to call the Kindle fanboys a picky group. This is not the only kind of e-reader to choose from; no one made them pick this brand, so it's a tough call why these people chose this slower downloading, lower contrast, slower web page searching device.

It's right next to the impossible mark to suggest one of these two options to anyone. They both do very different things. "Different strokes for different folks", if you will. So the next time you go telling your neighbour to go buy a certain tablet, think again, because you might not really know whats best for the people on the other side of the fence.
